Let it Snow!

Christmas music and animations - Fun for the whole family!

“Let it Snow” features a new variety of festive classics from Frank Sinatra and Chuck Berry to Burl Ives and Brenda Lee, and includes a stunning multi-media finale by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. The soundtrack is visually enhanced with thematic animation, laser imagery, special effects and all-dome scenery.

Followed by a 20 minute Christmas Night Sky show by a Stardome Presenter.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Enjoy a festive evening of musical entertainment with Tim Beveridge and the Royal New Zealand Navy Band  at the ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ event in Auckland this Christmas. Special guest performers include Rebecca Nelson and Cappella.

Held annually the festive event offers the chance to listen to (and sing along with if you like!) some of the good old Christmas classics like ‘Chestnuts Roasting’, ‘The Christmas Song’, ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night’. 

Time: 7:30 - 10 pm
Where: Auckland Town Hall, 303 Queen Street, Auckland
Parking: The nearby Civic car park offers convenient, well-lit parking until 3 am on Saturdays and is a flat fee of $12.

Christmas Carols in the Car Park

Come along for a family-friendly time of carol-singing and hearing the Christmas story in a creative way, with fun content for kids and a free sausage sizzle.

Bring a cushion, blanket or camp-chair to sit on if it's fine; if it's raining, we will take the fun inside!

Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Santa in the Sky!

Don’t miss your opportunity to have your photo with Santa in the Sky!

What’s happening up the Sky Tower? You’ll receive one free printed photo per family, plus take home a digital copy for you to send to the grandparents. You can decorate your very own ornament for your Christmas tree. Write your Christmas wish list to Santa and post it in the North Pole post box on our Main Observation level.

If you bring a present to donate to the children at Variety the Children’s Charity you will get your very own ‘Santa’s Elf Status’ sticker to wear with pride!

Picnic in the Park

Tired of the gorgeous weather yet? If not, it's time to take the family to the park for a picnic, head on down to one of our wonderful parks in Auckland, pack your picnic basket & take your picnic blanket - enjoy a warm, summers evening!

Where: A park of your choice! We recommend Silo Park, corner of Jellicoe Street and Beaumont Street, Central Auckland.

Smith & Caughey's Christmas Windows

The annual Christmas windows in the iconic Queen St store have a distinctly pirate theme this year.

Based on the book children’s book The Pirate’s Night Before Christmas, the animated windows tell the story of the night before Christmas aboard the Black Sark and being visited by Sir Peggedy in his clam-bedecked sleigh, drawn by a team of seahorses.

It’s not Christmas until you’ve experienced the windows in all their glory.

Time: 12am – 12pm
Where: Smith and Caughey’s 261 Queen Street, Auckland
Cost: Free
Parking: Parking can be tricky however the nearby Atrium Car Parking building offers safe, convenient parking within easy walking distance. Parking for the day costs around $18 if your enter before 10am.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! What a treat, because what is Christmas without a little (or a lot of) ice cream?

Find your favorite ice cream parlour and treat yourselves!

Saturday, 23 December

Christmas Lights at MOTAT

Make visiting Santa a magical experience and celebrate the spirit of giving with Christmas Lights at MOTAT. MOTAT invites visitors to see the Museum grounds transformed into a sparkling visual delight transformed with hundreds of fairy lights, live entertainment, Christmas goodies and of course Santa’s Grotto.

Proceeds from the Christmas Lights go towards providing Christmas gifts for charity. Please note MOTAT Mates cards do not apply for entry into this ticketed event.
